Objective of the study was to improving the functional capabilities of qualified swimmers aged 15-17 years in the preparatory period of the annual training cycle.
Methods and structure of the study. The study was conducted in a group of 40 qualified swimmers aged 15 to 17 years of both sexes, specializing in various competitive distances. The athletes were divided into control and experimental groups. According to passport age, sports qualification, and morphological indicators, the groups did not statistically differ. The training process of the experimental group included an additional combined hypercapnic-hypoxic effect in the preparatory period of the training cycle. Functional diagnostics methods were used to measure bioenergetic indicators.
Results and conclusions. As a result of the conducted pedagogical experiment, positive shifts in the indices of functional performance of qualified swimmers aged 15-17 years were revealed (p<0,05). The use of combined hypercapnic-hypoxic effects in the preparatory period of the annual training cycle of qualified swimmers aged 15-17 years reliably leads to an increase in the sports result.
