System of value orientations of students in the formation of a healthy lifestyle culture

Objective of the study: To identify the system of value orientations of student youth and further plan a set of measures to form a healthy lifestyle culture at the university.
Methods and structure of the study: The survey using M. Rokich's method (ranking of terminal and instrumental values from 1 to 18) involved 441 students of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (Moscow) aged 17 to 25 (308 girls (69.8%) and 133 boys (30.2%)). The open-source computer program «Jamovi» was used to process the results for data analysis and statistical testing.
Results and conclusions: The first place in the system of value orientations is occupied by the category «health». «Active active life» is higher among those involved in physical education and sports compared to those not involved. Pragmatic (concrete) values to a greater extent entered the group of the first seven most significant worldview positions, in contrast to abstract ones. No reliable differences in the value orientations of young men and women were found, as well as among students of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd years. The study revealed three clusters (groups) of students with different life priorities. Conclusions. The study helps to analyze the worldview positions of student youth, understand their value trends, and develop new socio-pedagogical conditions, methodological approaches that affect the formation of a healthy lifestyle.
