Objective of the study was to identify the two-vector nature of the interaction between social culture and sports activities in the conditions of modern society.
Methods and structure of the study. An analysis of literary sources devoted to the problem of determining the essence of “social culture” and its influence on the development of sports activities was carried out.
Results and conclusions. The social culture of sports activity provides an understanding of sports in the context of social space and personal interests of a person. The correlation of social culture with the value content of sports activity is manifested, on the one hand, in the socialization of a person during preparation and participation in competitions, and on the other hand, in the nature of mutual influence in the conditions of social space. In particular, the mutual influence of sport and social culture is manifested in the attractive power of a game, a sports spectacle that ensures equality of opportunity for competing parties, extreme “compression” in the temporal aspect, the ability to trace the competitive process, cognitive accessibility of the rules of a sports competition, a concentrated expression of a life situation, emotional empathy.
