Introduction. The somatotypological characteristics of mature age individuals is a significant criterion for their athletic orientation [1]. The work on the analysis of anthropometric parameters of individuals in this group is incomplete, fragmentary, and outlines trends [2].
The purpose of the study is to study the characteristics of somatotypological characteristics of persons of the first half of the mature age period of the Slavic and North Caucasian groups living in the Krasnodar Territory.
Methodology and organization of the study. Somatometric data of 100 people were obtained (determination of height, body weight, wrist circumference); 38 men and 62 women aged 25 to 35 years. According to gender and ethnic characteristics, the subjects were divided into two groups. The comparison of persons of different groups of the same sex was carried out according to the body index (IT), the body index IT=(M/H3)1/2 (kg1/2/m6) and the fatness index (IU), the fatness index IU=M/HC2 (kg/dm3).
The results of the study and their discussion. The statistical analysis made it possible to establish the limits of the norm for the following parameters: the physique index (IT), which amounted to the following values for women and men: 3.33–4.07 and 3.39–4.15 cu, respectively; the fatness index (IU) – 1.45–1.76 and 1.32–1.61 kg/dm3, respectively. As a result of the conducted studies, there were no significant differences in the average values of the indicators. However, a different frequency of occurrence of constitutional types and the degree of their fatness was found. It was found that among men from the North Caucasus there are 1.3 times more hypersthenics and, accordingly, 1.3 times fewer asthenics, compared with representatives of the Slavic group. In the last group of subjects, there were twice as many men with an excessive degree of fatness.
In the group of women belonging to the North Caucasian group, there were 1.7 times more hypersthenics and no asthenics were detected; in the Slavic group, 2.3 times more women had an excessive degree of fatness. Somatotypological characteristics are a "selective factor" of sports selection [3].
Conclusion. It was found that there are more people of hypersthenic body type among men and women belonging to the North Caucasian ethnic group than among people belonging to the Slavic; the asthenic type is extremely rare; among men and women belonging to the Slavic group, there are twice as many people with an excessive degree of fatness.
