The purpose of the study is to conduct pedagogical observations of competitive activities and evaluate the effectiveness of technical and tactical actions among qualified players of European and Asian table tennis styles.
Methodology and organization of the study. The scientific work was carried out in the 2022/2023 game season in the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China. As a result of pedagogical observations and video filming, indicators of individual technical and tactical techniques, tactical combinations in the game were revealed, which were subjected to mathematical analysis and interpretation of the research results.
The results of the study and their discussion. The conducted research of competitive activity has allowed us to establish that the effectiveness of serves among modern qualified tennis players of European and Asian style is on average 4.5%. Studies have shown that the effectiveness of left and right rolling does not significantly differ from each other in qualified athletes in table tennis of European and Asian styles and amounts to 20.5 and 19.0%, respectively. It should be noted that when performing a top spin by qualified Asian-style athletes in table tennis, the effectiveness of actions reaches 56.9%, and for European–style players - 38.7%.
The results of monitoring the competitive activity of qualified athletes in table tennis showed that when performing left and right trimming, sufficiently high efficiency indicators of this technical and tactical action are noted for Asian-style players – 44.4%, and for European-style athletes, the indicators range from 22.7%.
Conclusions. For qualified athletes in table tennis, one of the leading technical and tactical actions that bring the most points in competitive activity are such game techniques as top spin and clipping the ball left and right. Qualified Asian-style players, in turn, surpass European-style athletes in terms of the effectiveness of performing top spins and undercuts, which indicates the need to integrate training programs used in China for the training system of Russian athletes in order to achieve higher performance in competitive activities.
