Olympic discourse of foreign alphabets

Objective of the study was to determine the list and qualitative originality of the presentation of summer and winter sports when introducing letters using didactic illustrations.
Methods and structure of the study. Based on a content analysis of the content of 92 foreign alphabets published in 30 countries, it is shown that when choosing images of sports or their attributes, compilers are guided by their recognition by children, actively use children's images and images of animals, as well as the communicative potential of humor and irony, anthropomorphization techniques, metaphorization, personification.
Results and conclusions. It has been established that in summer Olympic sports, didactic illustrations are most often used, aimed at football, tennis, basketball, equestrianism, swimming, weightlifting, sailing and rugby. Winter Olympic sports are represented by skating and skiing. Hockey and ski jumping dominate. The conclusion is formulated that expanding the list of subjects and visualizing the processes characterizing physical education and sports in educational books for students of various typological groups can become one of the channels for popularizing physical culture and its value bases.
