Objective of the study was to identify qualitative changes in the new edition of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex "Ready for Labor and Defense" (VFSK GTO) and present an expert opinion on their positive contribution to the popularization of the GTO complex among the population.
Methods and structure of the study. A group of experts in the amount of 36 people, consisting of GTO judges, teachers and teachers of physical culture, was involved in scientific work. Respondents filled out a questionnaire specially designed for them, in which it was necessary to prioritize those changes that, in their opinion, can bring the greatest benefit both for the subjects themselves and for the development of the VFSK GTO.
Results and conclusions. In the course of the analysis, it was found that the changes made can be divided into three categories:
- the first, directly related to the new division into age groups - the stages of the GTO, now there are 18 of them, instead of the previous 11;
- the second, is related to the composition of the test tests. Starting from the second quarter of 2023, all standards are divided into groups according to physical qualities: speed, strength, endurance, flexibility, speed-strength and applied skills;
- the third category of changes directly affected the requirements for the level of physical fitness of the subjects. The general trend is associated with a slight increase in the requirements for applicants for gold and silver insignia.
The increase in the total number of levels of the VFSK GTO more accurately reflects the age dynamics of physical fitness in human ontogenesis and allows you to more often take part in the implementation of standards.
