Objective of the study was to experimentally substantiate the use of physical culture and sports means in the framework of extracurricular activities that contribute to the effective overcoming of Internet addiction among adolescents.
Methods and structure of the study. The pedagogical experiment was organized from September 2022 to December 2022. The study involved 84 tenth-graders of the lyceum of the Ulyanovsk State University of Education, which were divided into experimental and control groups. Respondents of the experimental group actively attended physical culture classes, extracurricular physical culture and health-improving classes and took part in various sports competitions. Respondents of the control group attended classes of a cultural and leisure orientation and attended physical culture classes only as part of their educational activities.
Results and conclusions. At the end of the experiment, it was revealed that the amount of time spent on the Internet among high school students of the experimental group decreased by 11% after the pedagogical experiment, which indicates the effectiveness of the proposed work with high school students to reduce the level of Internet addiction. Thus, extracurricular physical culture and health-improving activities are not only the muscular development of the body, but are also one of the most important elements aimed at the psychological and social health of adolescents.
