Objective of the study was to identify the features of interaction between Russian universities of physical culture and sports federations.
Methods and structure of the study. The universities of physical culture were analyzed for interaction with sports federations. Features of interaction are considered on the example of the Lesgaft National State University.
Results and conclusions. It was revealed that the effectiveness of all components of the professional training of sports teachers is possible only if there is close cooperation between the teaching staff of higher educational institutions and specialists who train the sports reserve. The need for interaction between departments and federations by sports is due to the priority of sports training of highly qualified athletes in each specific sport and the regional features of their development. Highly qualified athletes, members of national teams of various levels, entering the university from the region of its location, continue sports training under the guidance of their coaches.
