Objective of the study was to find out the level of development of the respiratory system in athletes who train at different intervals during the week.
Methods and structure of the study. Scientific work was carried out on 45 young athletes who trained for at least two years: twice a week - 15 people; four times a week - 14 people; six times a week - 16 people. The control group consisted of 17 physically inactive young men. The indicators of the respiratory system were evaluated with statistical processing of the results.
Results and conclusions. Against the background of regular athletics, the development of lung tissue and respiratory muscles took place. As a result of regular athletics in the observed young men, this was manifested by an increase in pulmonary volume and speed characteristics. As the frequency of athletic training increased, there was an increase in overall physical development, the muscles of the chest were strengthened, and the development of the pulmonary system increased. The maximum value of all indicators taken into account was in persons exercising six times a week. It is clear that the severity of the development of the respiratory system increases as the frequency of athletics training increases during the week.
