Formation of universal motor competences of students by means of the All-Russian sports complex GTO

Objective of the study was to substantiate the need for the participation of university students in passing the norms of the physical culture and sports complex "Ready for Labor and Defense" (GTO), as a basic condition for the formation of universal motor competencies in humans.
Methods and structure of the study. The pedagogical experiment was conducted among students and teachers of universities in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Based on the results of the survey, as well as participation in the delivery of the GTO standards of students and teachers, it was determined what motor competencies the above respondents possess. To assess the formation of universal motor competencies, the GTO standards were used, made for gold, silver and bronze signs, which corresponded to the high, average and satisfactory levels of formation of universal motor competencies among students.
Research results and conclusions. As a scientific experiment has shown, universal motor competences are formed only in 10.3% of university students, which characterizes a low level of motor activity in the majority of students. The GTO complex can become, on the one hand, a motivating tool for the development of physical qualities, and on the other hand, a determining tool for the formation of skills and abilities to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
