The role of education in the field of physical culture in forming the personality of students

Introduction. Physical culture performs an important function of personality formation, as well as its physical and motor skills [1, 2].
The purpose of the study is to determine the role of physical culture in the life and personality formation of students.
Methodology and organization of the study. In the course of the study, a survey was conducted of 90 3rd‑year students of the Faculty of Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the questionnaire questions were aimed at identifying the number of students involved in sports; factors that had the greatest influence on the decision to go in for sports; the role of physical culture in the life of modern society.
The results of the study and their discussion. All the students surveyed are engaged in sports. When asked what had the greatest impact on their decision to go in for sports, students answered the following: 50% of respondents independently decided to go in for sports to maintain their own health; 36% of students replied that playing sports was a consequence of the influence of education in the field of physical culture and sports; 14% of students noted the impact that the environment is on them.
When asked what students think about the importance of sports, not only for each of them, but also for society as a whole, all students said that physical education is important for our society. As an example, most of them cited the situation with the pandemic, arguing that it is necessary to increase collective immunity in order to prevent such a rapid spread of the disease with a large number of deaths.
Conclusions. Modern students understand the importance of the tasks and goals of physical culture and sports related to the need to obtain, deepen and update knowledge in this field, with the desire to improve not only physical qualities, but also moral-volitional, psychological, moral qualities and cultural values.
