Goal-setting in the field of physical culture and sports in the context of national security of the Russian Federation

Objective of the study was to emphasize the need to change the goal-setting of the policy in the field of physical culture and sports in the context of strengthening the national security of Russia, as well as to substantiate the key role of pedagogical universities in the implementation of this policy.
Methods and structure of the study. The methodological basis of the study was the principle of historicism, which makes it possible to trace the change in the priorities of society in the field of physical education, the dependence of goal-setting on the state of socio-political systems, to identify its dynamics, to outline possible development prospects. A systematic analysis was also carried out, which made it possible to determine the place of education in ensuring national security and the role of pedagogical universities in training personnel for this.
Results and conclusions. The historical approach and the method of system analysis make it possible to establish a clear correlation between public goal-setting in the field of education and the security of the state. As a priority for ensuring national security, two subject areas are singled out - physical culture and history - that can have the most effective impact on young citizens of the country. The authors propose to discuss the issue of the need to return to the legislation of the Russian Federation the provision on education as the most important function of the state, ensuring the national security of the country.
