Sports subcultures in the context of expanding the socio-educational space of physical culture and sport

Objective of the study was to consider the experience of studying sports subcultures in the context of the possibility of expanding the boundaries of the socio-educational space of students in specialized universities of physical culture and sports.
Methods and structure of the study. To substantiate the relevance of the problem under consideration, a comprehensive analysis of research and scientific-methodical literature was carried out. The obtained theoretical material was compared with the data of a written survey of undergraduate and graduate students of the Smolensk State University of Sports. 92 respondents took part in the survey, the subject of which was the confirmation of the revealed trend of popularization of sports subcultures among students.
Results and conclusions. The following are revealed: the reasons stimulating the interest of the student youth of an industry university in the development of sports subcultures; personal preferences and expectations of respondents regarding inclusion in specific subcultural environments; components of the emotional response caused in youth by specific types of subcultures; awareness by survey participants of the degree of injury risk of certain areas of sports subcultures. It is noted that one of the most famous sports subcultures among students can be considered: snowboarding, surfing, workout, frisbee, diving. The study emphasizes that the trend towards growing popularity of sports subcultures among students is closely interconnected with other large-scale social trends, such as mass sportization and the increase in the social significance of sports in the modern world.
