Objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of calorie intake on insulin resistance in middle-aged women.
Methods and structure of the study. The experiment involved 10 women aged 35-45 years, leading an active lifestyle, who are engaged in fitness and health-improving physical culture. The experimental group (EG) received a developed diet of appropriate calorie content, the control group (CG) received a diet taking into account caloric content, calculated norms for proteins, fats and carbohydrates, as well as with a recommendation for the number of meals per day.
Results and conclusions. According to the results of the survey, the recommended calorie content was determined, the norms for proteins, fats and carbohydrates were calculated, and the optimization of diets was carried out by compiling individual diets, menus, selecting a database of products and recipes. An analysis of the basic nutrition of the control and experimental groups showed that in both groups there is a low content of the protein component of plant and animal origin against the background of excessive consumption of animal fats and fast-digesting carbohydrates, which does not correspond to the recommended indicators for middle-aged women. Women who had poor carbohydrate and lipid metabolism had elevated fasting insulin levels. Nutritional modification and an active lifestyle are good non-pharmacological treatments for insulin resistance.
