Types of participation of sports university students in service provision for sport orienteering and tourist competitions in context of sociological analysis

Objective of the study was to conduct a sociological analysis to identify the attitude of sports university students to participation in providing services for sport orienteering and tourist competitions.
Methods and structure of the study. A questionnaire survey method was used to determine the attitude of sports university students to sport orienteering and tourist competitions. The questionnaire survey was conducted in March 2021. Subject to the survey were the 1st-4th-year students of Smolensk State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism majoring in 49.03.03 – "Recreation and Sports and Recreational Tourism". The questionnaire survey form offered 11 questions aimed to identify the issues in the service backup of the Russian sport orienteering and tourist competitions. The study also included a survey to determine the students’ readiness for future professional activities in the sports and health tourism sector.
Results and conclusions. The article is devoted to the issues in the service backup of major Russian sport orienteering and tourist competitions from the perspective of the organization of the educational process of university majoring in "Recreation and Sports and Health Tourism». It was found that the students were best prepared for practical arbitration of the sports events and volunteering activities, with more than 45% of them participating in major competitions as volunteers. Volunteering activities work, in their opinion, contribute to the acquisition of new knowledge and develop the ability to work in a team.
The findings indicate that practical refereeing skills and volunteering activities are an important element in the formation of professional competences in sports and recreational tourism specialists.
