Innovative methods to estimate athletes' predisposition to cyclic and complex coordination sports

Objective of the study was to analyze and substantiate the effectiveness of innovative methods for assessing athletes’ predisposition to cyclic and complex coordination sports.
Methods and structure of the study. Sampled for the study were the highly-skilled student-athletes of the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sports, Youth and Tourism and Polessky State University (Pinsk, Republic of Belarus), specializing in academic rowing, swimming, artistic gymnastics, and rifle and pistol shooting. The study was conducted at the premises of the Institute for Sports and Sports Medicine Research at Russian State University of Physical Education, Sports, Youth and Tourism and Applied-Research Laboratory "Longitudinal Studies" at Polessky State University. A total of 75 junior athletes engaged in cyclic and complex coordination sports were examined. A set of innovative methods for assessing the athletes’ predisposition to cyclic and complex coordination sports included molecular-genetic and psycho-physiological diagnostics of the subjects.
Results and conclusions. The innovative methods for evaluating athletes’ individual capabilities in a long-term training process enable to accurately determine their predisposition to a chosen sport. During the study, we created a DNA bank of the junior athletes and an electronic database that reflects the study findings.
The data obtained can be useful to a wide circle of experts working with both young and qualified athletes engaged in cyclic and complex coordination sports.
