Sambo fitness model for female university students: benefits analysis

Abstract
Objective of the study was to test benefits a new sambo fitness model for female university students, as complementary to their physical education curriculum, and develop practical guidelines for its academic applications.
Methods and structure of the study. The sambo fitness model testing academic experiment was run at Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University named after V.P. Astafiev in September 2020 through May 2021. We sampled the 1-2-year female students to pretest their physical fitness, knowledge of national sports and fitness technologies, actual physical education motivations, self-defense skills, etc. The sambo fitness model was designed as complementary to the standard theoretical and practical physical education and sports classes (72 hours), and offered elective theory and practice (328 hours) with special exercises and self-defense trainings with the sambo basics and pace-control musical accompaniment.
Results and conclusion. The sambo fitness model was tested beneficial as verified by progresses of the sample in the self-defense skills, knowledge of national sports, physical fitness and activity, plus functional resources, psycho-emotional controls and wellbeing.
