Abstract
Objective of the study was to find and analyze correlations if any between the individual anthropometric characteristics and competitive progress of the Syrian elite shot put competitors in 2020-2021.
Methods and structure of the study. We sampled for the study the 16-18-year-old shot put competitors (n= 20, 12 boys and 8 girls) from the Syrian Arab Republic who qualified for the 2020-2021 Syrian Shot Put Championships.
Results and conclusion. The study found a significant correlation between the individual anthropometric characteristics (body length, limb lengths and the biceps/ triceps/ hip sizes) and competitive successes in the national top-ranking shot put events, with particularly high contributions from the waist/ pelvic sizes and body weights.

Keywords: anthropometric characteristics, shot put, competitive progress.
