Introduction. The professional activity of police officers is associated with the need to use service weapons. An employee must be able to act quickly and accurately in an unexpectedly changing environment of operational and service activities [1]. However, within the framework of initial professional training, variable practical exercises of shooting from service weapons are not considered [2]. It is necessary to search for effective exercises that effectively prepare police officers for the variable use of service weapons.
The purpose of the study is to develop and identify the effectiveness of the use of variable practical exercises for training police officers in the use of service weapons.
Methodology and organization of the study. The pedagogical research was conducted in 2021 on the basis of the Tyumen Institute for Advanced Training of Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The developed complex of variable practical exercises for the use of service weapons by employees – training pistol shooting, aimed at developing the employee's ability to accurately and quickly perform unexpectedly variable motor tasks, was used in the experimental group as part of the development of the discipline "Fire training" of the professional (initial) training program. At the end of the training period of the EG and KG employees, the skills of using service weapons were tested.
The results of the study and their discussion. The developed complex included the following exercises: "The first shot at a variable target" (a light signal determines the choice of a target); "High-speed shooting at a stationary target from various positions: standing, kneeling, lying down" (a variant of the firing position is determined by the teacher's team); "Shooting with a change of magazine" (the moment of changing the store is determined by a light signal). At the end of the training period, it was revealed that there were 30.6% more EG employees who successfully coped with the developed situations than in KG.
Conclusion. The results of the study revealed the effectiveness of using variable practical exercises to train police officers in the use of service weapons. The main condition for the organization of training sessions and the use of variable practical exercises is that employees have formed skills to perform basic exercises of shooting from service weapons.
