The attitude of students and teachers to distance learning: the experience of Russian sports universities

Objective of the study was to identify the attitude of students to the distance learning format and the opinion of teachers regarding the optimality and effectiveness of using this format of work in Russian sports universities.
Methods and structure of the study. Empirical data collection was carried out on an online platform using a questionnaire developed by the authors in Google Forms as a research tool. Randomly and on a voluntary basis, two groups of respondents were formed: the first group - university students, the second group - teachers. In total, responses were received from 207 students and 60 teachers from 11 universities.
Results and conclusions. The experiment made it possible to identify attitudes, motivations, problems and risks of distance education and demonstrated the satisfaction of students and university teachers with distance learning. It was found that both students and teachers of Russian universities (49% - students, 56.7% - teachers) would not like to continue working remotely.
The results showed that both the student audience and teachers noted various difficulties and problems in the process of learning and teaching remotely, related to motivation, values, technical capabilities, and so on. This study can contribute to a theoretical, methodological and practical understanding of the degree and factors of satisfaction of students and teachers of universities with the organization of distance learning.
