Introduction. In modern society, there is a great need to increase the overall physical activity of young people who have started working or continuing their education [1]. This requires additional research on the effect of physical activity on the functional capabilities of the body in adolescence [2].
The purpose of the study is to assess the impact of in–depth physical activity classes on the functional capabilities of the youthful body.
Methodology and organization of the study. 32 healthy young men aged 17-18 years were examined. They were divided into a survey group (16 people) who started physical education classes five times during the week, and a control group (16 people) who engaged in physical education twice a week only at university classes. The study was conducted for six months. Initially and at the end of the observation, the results of standard functional tests were recorded in the examined patients.
The results of the study. Initially, the examined patients had low speed-strength and strength capabilities and low endurance. This was proved by the low performance of the running test for different distances, the long jump test, the six-minute and shuttle running tests, the pull-up test on the crossbar and the jumping test performed for a while with a rope. At the beginning of the follow-up, fatigue quickly set in for all those examined during physical activity, passing only a few hours after training.
At the end of the study, no significant changes in the recorded parameters were detected in the control group. In the examination group, after six months of regular in-depth physical education, there was a marked decrease in fatigue. This was accompanied by an increase in the level of speed and strength capabilities in the survey group, an increase in running time for different distances - by an average of 29.2%, an increase in strength characteristics (the number of pull–ups increased by 52.1% and the number of trunk lifts by 49.6%), an improvement in coordination characteristics (shuttle running accelerated by 25.3%, the number of rope jumps increased for 25 seconds by 60.3%), an increase in the level of endurance (increased by 18.3% the distance run in 6 minutes).
Conclusion. During the period of in-depth physical activity classes, young men's motor capabilities increase, the level of endurance, speed and strength capabilities increases. Muscle activity in the traditional format only in academic physical education classes was unable to provide this effect.
