Objective of the study was to compare the results of the age dynamics of the absolute, specific and normalized by length and body mass jump from a place with a push with two legs in boys and girls of school age.
Methods and structure of the study. According to the materials of the All-Russian health monitoring of schoolchildren with the participation of about 90 thousand students from 7 to 18 years old, when evaluating the results of motor fitness testing, it is proposed to use the index method (normalization of the test result by body length and weight).
Results and conclusions. Using the standing long jump as an example, it is shown that this technique allows one to reveal the deep patterns of interaction between the functional and biomechanical parameters of the body and provide a more objective comparison of the test results of subjects of different sex and age.

Keywords: school-age children; motor readiness; index method; standing long jump; monitoring of the physical health of schoolchildren.
