Analysis of key qualities of coaches of student sports teams

Introduction. The analysis of the educational potential of youth sports shows that conscientiousness, responsibility, diligence, methodological competence and discipline prevail in the hierarchy of significant qualities of a children's coach from the positions of coaches, teenagers and parents. Moreover, adolescents attach more importance than adults to justice, and parents attach more importance to the psychological competence of the coach [3].
The purpose of the study is to assess the significant qualities of coaches of student sports teams.
Methodology and organization of the study. To achieve this goal, online questionnaires for coaches, athletes and referees were developed, in which respondents assessed 10 personal qualities inherent in the ideal coach of a student sports team on a 5-point scale. The study involved 161 representatives of game sports (volleyball, basketball, football), of which 136 athletes, 14 coaches, 20 referees.
The results of the study and their discussion. Analysis of the hierarchy of significant qualities of a coach showed that all respondents agree that a coach of a student sports team should be responsible, hardworking and know the individual characteristics of his players. According to the respondents, benevolence and rigor are less important for the coach of student teams.
In addition, the coaches themselves believe that they need to be disciplined and psychologically competent. Athletes of less successful teams emphasized that a coach should strive for self-education, while for athletes of successful teams, the most important quality of a coach is knowledge of the individual characteristics of his students.
The referees believe that the coach first of all needs to have psychological competence and the ability to educate himself.
It should be noted that methodological competence in the hierarchy of significant qualities of a coach is in the sixth position out of ten. Most likely, this is due to the fact that the task of the training process at the university is not to teach students the game "from scratch", but to organize effective game interaction of athletes, based on their individual characteristics and the presence of personal experience in sports activities.
Conclusion. The most significant qualities of a student sports team coach are responsibility, hard work, knowledge of the individual characteristics of their players, psychological competence and the ability to educate themselves.
