Objective of the study was to test and analyze benefits of a new team sports and active games prioritizing model applicable in trainings of the 11-12 year-olds for the GTO Class III tests.
Methods and structure of the study. The new team sports and active games prioritizing training model was tested in 2020-2021 on a sample of the 11-12 years old secondary schoolboys (n=64) from Mytishchi city. The sample was split up into EG and RG of 32 people each – virtually equally physically fit as verified by the pre-experimental tests. The EG trainings of 45 min three times a week were dominated by basketball, football and volleyball practices plus active games with a special focus on the speed-strength and coordination qualities and ball handling techniques.
Results and conclusion. The pre- versus post-experimental tests showed the new team sports and active games prioritizing training model being beneficial for the age group motor skills and physical qualities critical for success in the GTO Class III tests. The study findings generally agree with the expert recommendations on the team sports and active games being wider used in the age group trainings due to their benefits for the key motor skills and qualities rated by the age-specific GTO tests.
