Objective of the study was to determine the relationship between the objective fitness parameters of goalkeepers and the effectiveness of their game actions in football.
Methods and structure of the study. The study was carried out on the basis of the football academy "Zenit" (St. Petersburg) and involved 18 goalkeepers aged 14-19 years. The pedagogical observations enabled to determine the quantitative and qualitative parameters of the subjects’ game actions, while the pedagogical tests and psychophysiological diagnostics made it possible to identify the main fitness components. A correlation analysis was made to identify the relationship between the goalkeepers’ game actions and objective fitness parameters, which allowed optimizing the long-term training of athletes.
Results and conclusions. The findings showed that the effectiveness of the game, both two- and one-legged, largely depends on the high level of development of goalkeepers’ special flexibility, speed-strength, and coordination abilities. In this regard, it is advisable to apply in the long-term process of training of goalkeepers innovative pedagogical technologies, which would optimize the components discussed above.
