Introduction. The problem of personal self-realization is one of the central ones both in practical psychology and its applied branches, and in the theory and methodology of science [1].
The purpose of the study is to identify and present the types of self-realization of the individual in sports, which will provide a differentiated approach to the organization of the training process and determine the direction of the sports career of the subjects of sports activity.
Methodology and organization of the study. In the course of the study, the author's questionnaire was used to study the types of self-realization of the athlete's personality and methods of mathematical and statistical processing of the results. The questionnaire included 18 questions, 6 questions for each type of self-realization. The following types of self-realization were diagnosed: social-status self-realization; professional-activity self-realization; narrow-personal self-realization. Each type of self-realization was diagnosed according to two parameters: 1) the significance of the type of self-realization (the degree of expression of the desire); 2) the possibility of the type of self-realization (availability of conditions and success). The method also allows you to identify the presence of intrapersonal conflicts caused by a mismatch of aspirations and opportunities for sports. The study involved athletes aged 12 to 21 years, representing high-performance sports (n=52) and mass sports (n=52), training and studying in Moscow and Sochi.
The results of the study and their discussion. The higher the rank, the higher the desire and importance of professional and activity self-realization among athletes representing the highest achievements of sports. The average arithmetic indicators of the importance of professional and activity self-realization were also significantly higher than the socio-status and narrowly personal self-realization. The athletes representing mass sports had significantly higher social status and narrow personal self-realization. In each group of athletes, individual athletes were identified who were experiencing an internal conflict due to the discrepancy between their aspirations and opportunities for self-realization in sports: having high aspirations, but low opportunities; having high opportunities, but low aspirations.
Conclusion. The conducted research confirmed the possibility to identify different types of self-realization of athletes on the basis of the results obtained and to provide a differentiated approach to the organization of the training process and to determine the directions of the sports career of sports subjects in the future.
