Objective of the study was to identify the main trends in the formation of the competitive program of the Summer Olympic Games based on the comparative analysis of the 2021 and 2024 Summer Olympics.
Methods and structure of the study. The article analyzes the official documents and materials presented on the official websites: IOC (olympic.org), Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games (tokyo2020.org), Paris 2024 Olympic Games (paris2024.org), International Gymnastics Federation (gymnastics.sport), and International Swimming Federation - FINA (fina.org).
Results and conclusions. The analysis revealed the main trends that echo the policy of the International Olympic Committee on the further restructuring of the OG program. The gradual reduction in the quota for athletes and officials participating in the OG aimed to avoid their further "gigantism" and ever-rising scale of expenditures. Achieving full gender equality, which implies the same number of men and women participating in the OG (50% each); the increase in the number of the mixed types of competitions; meeting the needs of young viewers by including in the program extreme and urban sports, which can be represented outside the standard competitive arenas.

Keywords: Summer Olympic Games, competitive program, sport, athletic disciplines, gender equality, mixed types.
