Objective of the study was to experimentally substantiate the effectiveness of the methods of psychological follow-up of the process of training of skilled boxers.
Methods and structure of the study. Sampled for the educational experiment were 28 Class I/ II boxers aged 15-17 years. The experiment was run on the basis of the Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic reserve of Ulyanovsk. The subjects’ physical fitness level was assessed in the following tests: 30 m (s)/ 100 m (s)/ 3,000 m (min) run tests; standing long jump (cm); 4kg shot-put test (with the right and left hand); and pull-ups on a horizontal bar test (reps). Their technical fitness was rated based on the number of precise punches and missed offensive actions; the frequency and timeliness of distance changes; the number and effectiveness of defensive actions; and the number of feints.
Results and conclusions. The educational experiment showed that the EG boxers performed better than the CG ones. The initial shot-put test rates in the CG were as follows: right hand - 6.71±0.56 m, left hand - 5.83±0.47 m. By the end of the educational experiment, these rates improved: right hand - 7.12±0.45 m (p0.05), left hand - 6.93±0.59 m (p0.05). The initial shot-put test rates in the EG were 6.73±0.61 m for the right hand. By the end of the educational experiment, the results increased to 8.21±0.53 cm (p0.05) for the right hand and to 7.62±0.35 cm (p0.05) for the left one.
The EG boxers were also found to have a higher technical fitness level. In the CG, by the end of the educational experiment, the number of precise attacks per round increased to 6.0±0.21 punches (p0.05) versus 4.0±0.17 registered at the start of the experiment; in the EG, the rates increased to 8.0±0.27 punches (p0.05) versus 3.0±0.22 registered at the start of the experiment.
The data obtained during the educational experiment proved the effectiveness of the developed system of psychological follow-up of training of skilled boxers, which contributes to the improvement of their sports skills.
