Keywords: volleyball, three-phase training, indicators of speed and strength training.

The purpose of the study is to develop and justify the methodology of speed and strength training of volleyball players of mass categories on the basis of three-phase training.
Methodology and organization of the study. To improve the speed and strength qualities, we have developed a special physical training program that takes into account the schedule of the educational process of students and is designed for 18 weeks of each half-year of training. It included five mesocycles: one retractor, three transformative, and one realisational. In the retracting mesocycle (3 weeks), the tasks of general physical training were solved using the circular method of interval training. The transformative mesocycle (12 weeks) was aimed at developing speed and strength qualities based on three-phase training (the first microcycle of each mesocycle was aimed at performing exercises using the eccentric training method; the second microcycle – isometric training; the third microcycle – all phases of the exercise are performed at the highest possible speed) [2]. Repeated, game, and competitive methods were used. Combinations of plyometric exercises were included for the development of a specific manifestation of speed-strength abilities (speed, explosive power, jumping ability, speed endurance), technical exercises and exercises for OFP [3]. In the implementation mesocycle, we used mobile and simplified sports games, exercises for flexibility, coordination (2 weeks). The final week of the mesocycle was aimed at performing test tasks by students to identify their level of speed and strength training [1], as well as a comparative analysis of the results obtained to determine the further tactics of the training process.
The results of the study and their discussion. The developed method allowed to increase the indicators of speed and strength training of students. In the training group, statistically significant changes were recorded in the tests "Shuttle run 5x6 m", "Long jump from a place", "Jump up from a place with a push with two hands"," Throw the ball with two hands from behind the head standing " (p<0.05). In the "Herringbone" shuttle race (92 m), the results improved, but the data obtained do not have statistically significant differences (p0,05).
Conclusion. Thus, as a result of experimental work, we have obtained data that show the existing statistically significant differences in four out of five indicators. The results obtained confirm the effectiveness of the targeted impact of the selected means and methods for the development of speed and power abilities of volleyball players of mass categories. The developed method of three-phase training is effective and can be used in the practice of training volleyball players of different qualifications.
