Objective of the study was to prove the appropriateness of gender-based planning of the training process in taekwondo by analyzing the data obtained during the study.
Methods and structure of the study. Sampled for the study were the athletes-instructors and coaches of the Saint Petersburg and Russian national teams. The respondents were interviewed at all stages of the study. A total of 20 people were interviewed, including 13 top-level coaches with more than 15 years of coaching experience and 7 athletes-instructors, members of the St. Petersburg and Russian national teams. The subjects were asked to choose one of the responses depending on the frequency of using the theoretical material during the training process. Each response was relevant and was assigned a numerical value.
Results of the study and conclusions. Currently, the Russian women’s and men’s national teams are trained in parallel during the training camps. The respondents noted that there is a need to spilt the men’s and women’ training process in view of different tactical training goals and competition rules.
The findings showed that there is no separate gender-specific training program in taekwondo. The respondents emphasized that the men’s and women’ taekwondo training processes need to be split.
