Objective of the present study was to identify the peculiarities of organization of sports activities of people with disabilities based on a theoretical analysis.
Methods and structure of the study. Adaptive sports practices are currently being run in four nosological groups: people with intellectual disabilities, musculoskeletal disabilities, visual impairments, and hearing impairments. In the course of the study, we analyzed the sports training of athletes with disabilities engaged in track and field athletics in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Results of the study and conclusions. Adaptive sports as sports activities represent an optimal combination of physical, psychological, and social impacts that meet the basic principles of rehabilitation of people with disabilities. The analysis of the peculiarities of organization of sports activities of people with disabilities led to the conclusion that the gradualness and accessibility of didactic material in sports activities creates prerequisites for people with disabilities to acquire various motor skills to develop life-sustaining physical qualities and abilities.
