Piloting skills building in 14-16 year-old male bobsledders in the first year of competitive period

Objective of the present study was to design a process of training in the competitive period to form the "skeleton bobsled" piloting skills in the male bobsledders in their 1st year of study.
Methods and structure of the study. The training methodology in the Experimental Group consisted in providing theoretical knowledge of the skeleton bobsled itself, technical characteristics of its movement along the frozen track, the skeleton bobsled pilot system, psychological state of the athlete himself when racing down, and training methods (ideomotor training, demonstration, explanation of turning of curves).
Results of the study and conclusions. The results of the final competition in the 2019/2020 season showed that the high competitive results in the Experimental Group were due to better technical piloting (the result of each descent was more stable), which was due to earlier training on a frozen track. The training methodology used in the Experimental Group consisted of initial training of athletes with theoretical knowledge of piloting not only the skeleton bobsled but also the bob.
