Temperament specifics of university sport team players

Objective of the study was to determine the predominant types of temperament and the levels of manifestation of individual characteristics of temperament in the players of the national volleyball teams participating in the Moscow Student Sports Games.
Methods and structure of the study. During the study, the analysis of the scientific and methodological literature was carried out, and the student volleyball players were tested using a questionnaire survey to study their temperament structure by V.M. Russalov. A total of 64 athletes (37 boys and 27 girls) were sampled for the study.
Results and conclusions. In the female and male student volleyball players, the predominant type of temperament in the work and social environment is mixed.In the work environment, most girls and boys demonstrated the same level of manifestation of individual characteristics of temperament. In the social sphere, most girls and boys were found to have different levels of manifestation of individual characteristics of temperament, which means that:
• girls have a higher level of need for social contacts and leadership than most boys;
• the majority of girls have difficulty finding the appropriate forms of social intercourse, have a low level of readiness for social intercourse, seek to support monotonous intercourse, and most boys easily come to the social contacts, switch in the process of communication, possess a larger number of communication plan templates;
• most young males and females have high values of speech-motor rate, rapidity of speech, high speed and level of development of the speech-motor apparatus;
• most girls are highly sensitive to communication failures, while boys are insensitive to the assessment of their mates, confident in themselves and communication situations.
