Objective of the study was to provide a theoretical substantiation of the development of human physical potential from the perspective of the ontokinesiological approach.
Results of the study and conclusions. The authors show that in context of the ontokinesiological approach, elite sports cover the age range between 20 and 30 years. The authors provide the results of the statistical analysis of the age parameters of the participants of the final competitions of the XXXI Olympic Games (2016) in Rio de Janeiro and the 2015 weightlifting championships of the federal districts, Moscow, and St. Petersburg. The mean age of the Olympic Games finalists was shown to be closer to the lower limit of the age range, while in the second group it was closer to the upper limit of the age range. Therefore, there is a direct correlation between age and elite sports achievements.
The evidence shows that the peak motor potential exists as an objective reality and can serve as a guide in the training process.
The author concludes that the concept of corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Education, Doctor of Biological Sciences V.K. Balsevich, was confirmed in the study and could be recommended for practical use by elite athletes and their coaches.
