Objective of the study was to identify the main trends in the vocabulary used in the headlines of the articles of the Teoriya i Praktika Fizicheskoy Kultury Journal (1925-2019).
Methods and structure of the study. A total of 23,708 headlines of the articles published in the Teoriya i Praktika Fizicheskoy Kultury Journal in 1925-2019 served as an empirical basis of the study. The technical preview publications (e.g., secondary information: abstracts, bibliographies, etc.), news articles (chronicles, etc.) and articles without authorship (editorials, policy papers, etc.) were excluded.
We analyzed the sampling of 19,551 articles, which, upon previous experience in data processing, was divided into three global topical units: articles with predominantly pedagogical focus, articles devoted mainly to organizational and technical issues, publications focused mainly on general scientific subjects. To show all statistics were fractured into five-year time frames.
Results and conclusions. The overall publication trend of the Teoriya i Praktika Fizicheskoy Kultury Journal in the period from 1925 through 2019 is characterized by steady growth. The trend in the vocabulary used in the article headlines is characterized by the decreased growth rates in the number of lexical units. This provision implies that there are stagnation processes in the subject matter of the scientific publications.
