Objective of the study was to identify the dynamics of speed-strength indicators in the 6-10 year-old rhythmic gymnasts.
Methods and structure of the study. The following methods were applied: literature analysis, physical fitness tests, mathematical statistics using the software Statistica v. 6.0. Student’s t-test was used to identify differences in the rates of age-related changes in the subjects’ physical qualities. Sampled for the study were 99 female athletes aged 6-10 years.
Results and conclusions. The study revealed the age periods of the most pronounced increases in the maximal strength and strength endurance rates. The performance rates of the female athletes improve every year, with the greatest increase observed among the female gymnasts aged 8-9 years (within the studied range of 6-10 years). The findings also showed that the right and left hand maximal strength rates of the rhythmic gymnasts had the same age specifics. In the "Wall bar angled hang" test to assess strength endurance, the rhythmic gymnasts were also found to have the greatest increase between the ages of 8 and 9. On average, the test results increased 2-2.2 times by the age of 9 relative to 6 years of age. Therefore, based on the results of testing of strength qualities of the 6-10 year-old gymnasts, the greatest increase was at the age of 8-9. The increase in the two tests was statistically significant (p<0.001).
