Objective of the study was to develop a postural balance correction method for senior people by using stabilographic training equipment with biological feedback.
Methods and structure of the study. The study involved 40 individuals aged 55 and over (7 men and 33 women, mean age - 59±3.2 years) without locomotor or nervous disorders. The study lasted 6 months. Two groups were formed: Experimental and Control groups. The Control Group subjects (n=20) were engaged in a recreational gymnastics program, which included exercises to develop balancing skills and coordination abilities. The training sessions were held once a week for 45 minutes. Individual trainings were conducted at home for 45 minutes a day. Independent work was monitored through questionnaires and diaries of self-control.
Results of the study and discussion. The results obtained indicated that the biofeedback-based training course helped the older people improve their static and dynamic balancing skills, which was reflected in the reduced dispersion of midposition in the sagittal and frontal planes, reduced ellipse area, width, and length. The role of the vestibular analyzer increased and the dependence of balance on the visual analyzer decreased.
