Objective of the study was to correct the trait and state anxiety in students by introducing the concentrated training method in aerobics classes.
Methods and structure of the study. Sampled for the study were the second-year students of St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University (n=229) majoring in Physical Education, specialization "Aerobics". We tested the subjects’ trait and state anxiety levels using the Ch.D. Spielberger - Yu.L. Hanin test. The technology applied provided "immersion" in the "Aerobics" specialization; enabled to diversify the means and methods of physical education, acquaint the students with modern aerobics directions.
The methodical support of the work program was designed in such a way that the training means and methods used in aerobics classes helped the students adapt to specific workloads and coordination complexity of the exercise, acquire knowledge and practical skills along the individual trajectory, reduce the effects of negative stress factors.
Results and conclusions. The survey results proved the effectiveness of the applied methodology by the following criteria: creation of a comfortable educational environment (91.7%); non-conflict interaction of subjects of the educational process (95.6%); differentiated assistance (86.0%). Therefore, the application of the concentrated training method and the set of accompanying teaching methods help minimize the negative effects of stress factors leading to a decrease in the level of the trait and state anxiety in the students - according to the control test, 97.1% of students noted a decrease in the anxiety level when preparing for classes and presenting their individual and creative tasks.
