Objective of the present study was to substantiate the rational selection of students to the national teams to participate in the GTO festivals based on the point system and performance results.
Methods and structure of the study. We analyzed the normative documents and protocols of the GTO festivals among students in 2018/2019.
Results of the study and conclusions. The scoring system is based on state requirements for physical fitness level. A certain number of points corresponds to a certain badge. But in the format of the GTO festivals, a participant does not limit himself to fulfilling the standard for the Gold Badge only, but tries to demonstrate the highest result possible. When analyzing this system, the authors found that as long as the result does not match the Gold Badge, the point increase is disproportionately high compared to the increase in the performance results.
The students' performance rates at the GTO festivals indicated that different trials were characterized by different difficulty levels to perform by the maximum score. The analysis identified maximum results for each test and average test results. We identified the potential contribution of a test to the total points to be gained at the GTO festival.
Based on the analysis of the scoring system and performance rates, the authors substantiated a rational process of preparation of students for the GTO festivals. Recommendations on the formation of the university team were given.
