Background. The GTO Complex Class I-V tests offer three difficulty levels to award the successful qualifiers with the Gold, Silver and Bronze GTO Badges. [1].  The Ministry of Education and Science Letter № 08-888 of 15.07.2014 ‘On the Physical Education progress tests by educational establishments’ recommends acknowledging the individual GTO Complex test results in the regular Physical Education progress tests by the educational system. The latter, however, still need in need of practical and efficient models to harmonize them with the GTO Complex test requirements and standards [2-4].

Objective of the study was to tests by an experiment and analyzes benefits and promises of a new online computerized physical education progress test (OCPEPT) and management system for the GTO Complex tests in the national educational system.

Methods and structure of the study. The OCPEPT piloting experiment was run at Secondary Schools #44 and #1 of Surgut city and Surgut Oblast, respectively. Sampled for the experiment were the IV category schoolchildren (n=230) split up into Experimental Group (n=120) and Reference Group (n=110).

Results and discussion. The core idea of the OCPEPT progress test model harmonized with the GTO Complex test  standards is to efficiently design and manage the physical conditioning process by the group/ individual Physical Education progress profiles: see Figure 1 hereunder.

Figure 1. OCPEPT: Physical Education progress test and Physical Education service design and management model

The physical education progress tests results are input in the Physical Education teacher’s digital logbook and processed to keep the teacher informed on the individual progress of every trainee, group and class on the whole and their fitness for the GTO Complex tests. The OCPEPT model offers a feedback capacity to efficiently update the individual/ group physical education and physical conditioning service as required by the test data. Later on the online service may be used for an efficient physical education progress monitoring and communication to give every trainee recommended individual sets of exercises for further progress. The OCPEPT model offers the following services to the educational establishment:

  • Keep the online GTO Complex test database with the test results;
  • Run the regular physical education progress tests using the GTO Complex test standards;
  • Individualize the physical education service system;
  • Input the GTO Complex test data in the digital logbook in the OCPEPT system;
  • Design the individual physical education progress/ conditioning profiles for the trainees;
  • Manage and update the individual physical education progress/ conditioning profiles to meet the GTO Complex test standards;
  • Give online recommendations on how the individual physical education progress profile should be updated;
  • Compose school teams for the summer/ winter GTO Complex Festivals sponsored by municipalities; and
  • Compose school teams for the municipal events of the Presidential Sport Contests.

The pre- and post-experimental tests in the OCPEPT system testing experiment were run at the beginning and end of the school year: see Table 1 hereunder.

The OCPEPT system testing experiment showed benefits of the system for the regular physical education progress tests due to its progress design and management algorithms.

Conclusion. The new online computerized physical education progress test (OCPEPT) and management system for the GTO Complex tests in the national education system was tested beneficial as it gives the means to run the regular physical education progress tests on an efficient individualized basis so as to secure qualifications for the Gold, Silver and Bronze GTO Badges and design and manage the individual/ group physical education progress/ conditioning profiles.

Abstract

The GTO Complex Class I-V tests offer three difficulty levels to award the successful qualifiers with the Gold, Silver and Bronze GTO Badges. The article tests by an experiment and analyzes benefits and promises of a new online computerized physical education progress test and management system for the GTO Complex test in the national educational system. The system is expected to bring a new technological quality to the physical trainings and qualifications for the GTO Complex tests in the national educational system. The computerized physical progress test and management system was designed to fast process the prior test data versus the GTO Complex test standards and requirements; support the physical education teacher by new training algorithms customizable to the progress test data; process the current training progress data and highlight the backlogs and priorities in the physical progress detailed by specific target qualities; and, hence, make efficient decisions to correct and manage the training process. The system in the test mode produced a detailed analysis of the trainees’ physical progress with the relevant individual qualitative and quantitative tests rates for the conditioning profiles, with variation of every physical quality analyzed and presented to facilitate the progress and generate recommendations on how the training system should be corrected.
