Fitness model for female medical university students under professional physical education curriculum

Health reports of Krasnoyarsk Medical University rate the students’ average physical fitness very low i.e. the students are tested virtually physically unprepared for the job-specific responsibilities and challenges. The situation appears to be largely due to the fact that the valid professional physical education curriculum needs to be updated in the programmatic and practical domains with a special priority to the female student groups. The study was designed in this context to develop and test benefits of a fitness model for female medical university students under professional physical education curriculum. Sampled for the model testing experiment were the 1-3-year female students (n=120) from Krasnoyarsk Medical University. The fitness model complements the standard physical education curriculum with the physical conditioning practices in couples and with training equipment/ simulators assisted practices. The 2-year trainings made a special emphasis on the strength-intensive fitness practices with the body shaping goals i.e. the shoulder girdle, abdomen and leg muscles formation purposes. And the 3-year trainings were designed to secure the all-round strength-driven physical fitness for professional missions by mostly the circular training practices.
