Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is one of the serious degenerative/ dystrophic diseases of musculoskeletal system of gross damaging effects on many joints that are manifested with time in stiffness, contractures and motor dysfunctions. Objective of the study was to develop and test benefits of hydro-kinesitherapy for combined rehabilitation of school children diagnosed with knee joint juvenile idiopathic arthritis. The rehabilitation program was designed based on a prior comprehensive theoretical analysis of the subject. Sampled for the study, on written consents from the families, were 30 knee-juvenile-idiopathic-arthritis-diagnosed schoolchildren split up on a random basis into Experimental (EG, n=17, including 6 boys and 11 girls) and Reference (RG, n=15, including 8 boys and 7 girls) Groups. The hydro-kinesitherapy program included a 3-week introductory, 8-week corrective training; and a 3-week rehabilitation period. The hydro-kinesitherapy model was tested beneficial due to the optimal set of modern aquatic training and gymnastics tools that effectively secure motor progress in the affected limbs and activate trophic processes in the knee-juvenile-idiopathic-arthritis-diagnosed schoolchildren.

Keywords: hydro-kinesitherapy, rehabilitation, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, senior schoolchildren.
