Objective of the study was to analyze the physical education systems in the urban and rural schools in China by a questionnaire survey of the school Physical Education teachers designed to profile their professional service issues, accomplishments and challenges. Sampled for the questionnaire survey were the Physical Education teachers from rural (n=30) and urban (n=35) schools. The survey was designed to obtain data on their educational backgrounds; numbers of schoolchildren served; qualification classes of the teachers; advanced education opportunities for them if any; material assets for the Physical Education service; Physical Education classes per week; etc. The survey data made it possible to rate efficiency of the Physical Education service in the Chinese rural versus urban areas. The study findings provide a basis for analysis of the practical experience and accomplishments of the Chinese Physical Education specialists and for the potential joint initiatives to develop efficient school Physical Education models to build up the children’s motivations for active school physical education and sports.
