Education research potential of physical education theory and management practice department of Herzen RSPU: historical progress analysis

The article gives an analysis of the historical progress of the Physical Education Theory and Management Practice Department of Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia with an emphasis on its operational policies and strategies that have secured its leading positions in the national academic pedagogical educational system. A special priority in the analysis is given to the educational research thrusts in the physical education theory and practice that are now central for the Physical Education Theory and Management Practice Department development policies. The study data demonstrate that the long history of the educational and research service and sound educational traditions of the Physical Education Theory and Management Practice Department of Herzen RSPU form a basis for the new quality of the specialist training service for the national physical education and sports sector.
