It is a common knowledge that a reasonable prime flexibility of the musculoskeletal system provides a basis for the academic progress in the physical fitness building domain. Objective of the study was to provide theoretical grounds for and develop consistent sets of martial arts based practices for the musculoskeletal system flexibility building in the academic physical education process. Subject to the primary tests under the study were 300 first-year students of SFU who were offered, within the academic Physical Education curriculum, the special sets of martial arts (judo, Wushu and yoga) based practices for the musculoskeletal system flexibility building, and duly motivated for the practices by the training system making a special emphasis on the practical self-defense skills. The experimental practical tools geared to improve the musculoskeletal system flexibility were found beneficial for application in the academic Physical Education curriculum.
