Age-specific physical progress and motor skills of senior schoolgirls versus their somatotypes

The study was designed to profile the age-specific physical progress and motor skills of the 14-17 year-old schoolgirls versus their somatic types. Subject to the study were 161 schoolgirls aged 14-17 years and qualified with the basic health group. The subjects’ body constitutions were typed using the Shtefko-Ostrovsky's tests. The subjects’ physical fitness was rated using the physical ability tests of different physical qualities and abilities.
The study found domination of the endurance and coordination qualities in the schoolgirls of asthenic-thoracic build; and strength, speed-strength and flexibility qualities in the schoolgirls of muscular and macrosplanchnic build. The study found the schoolgirls’ physical fitness being on the rise during a school year irrespective of their somatic types.
