Objective of the study was to make a comparative analysis of the historic variations of the GTO Complex test standards viewed as measures of the people’s health in different historic periods. We have compared the GTO Complex test data of 1947, 1955, 1965, 1972 and 2014 to highlight the tests that survived the GTO reforms and stayed in the test lists. These most popular tests were the following: 60 m sprint; long jumps; pull-ups on the horizontal bars for young men and prone push-ups for young women; ball/ dummy grenade throwing; and 2000 m race tests. Analysis under the study showed that the age limits of the GTO test groups varied with time. We concluded that the GTO Complex and URSQ (Uniform Russian Sport Qualification) test standards are customized for the certain primary levels of the young people’s physical activity and fitness rates and may be applied as the people’s physical health and lifestyle indicators.
