Sport and socialization: from sport-centered methods to innovative socio-cultural projects

The article analyses practical prerequisites for the sport-centred physical education and its benefits and application aspects in the modern socio-cultural conditions. It presents theoretical and experimental substantiations for the sport-centred technologies being applied for the school and university sports and physical culture. The International “Children of Asia” Sport Games hosted by Yakut Republic once in four years since 1996 is an excellent example of junior athletes’ socializing projects based on the sport-centred practices. A special emphasis is made on the powerful cultural potential of the sporting environments and activities on the due spiritual values and behavioural models being formed in children and young people via the sport events, individual success stories, athletic career accomplishments of the national sport elite, role models of ethics, so that sport ethics are duly covered by the national media with due priority to the ideas of sport-centred physical education.
