It is largely due to the gap between the theory and innovative practices that the Russian sports have come to the present crisis situation. The gap may be bridged only when the national researchers and couches unite their efforts for a seriously backed theoretical and practical breakthrough in the means, methods and forms of the modern athletic training systems. The article gives an overview of the topics covered by the publications in the “Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kultury” Journal for the year of 2016. The publication flow analysis gave the means to outline the modern sport science development trends and the top-priority problems need to be addressed by the specialists.
